The Golden Age of Piracy, seen as a time of destruction. Also, the time of truth and legends. During this time, pirates were on the rise, and buccaneers were becoming pirates. Some pirates were known as robin hood characters. However, most identified as extremely harsh, cruel, and quick by historians (Famous Pirates in History: Stories from the Golden Age of Piracy). An example of a pirate who was brutal and harsh would be Henry Morgon. Who used residents as human shields to take over a Spanish tressure port (under the Black Flag Chapter 3). Some pirates are still known as heroes.

His most infamous dead was his blockade of Charles Town (Charleston), South Carolina. For several days in May of 1718, Teach and his fleet of pirates overtook any ship that attempted to enter or leave the harbor. When he captured a group of wealthy English citizens, he held them for ransom until the government agreed to furnish his crew with medical supplies. (Famous Pirates in History: Stories from the Golden Age of Piracy). There are even pirates higher than Black Beard and considered the greatest pirate of all time.

Black Bart, known as  Bartholomew Rogers, is Said to capture 470 ships in his career. He is also said to have halted all trade in the West Indians by the height of his career.
